Motorcars LTD – Terms and
Conditions of Service

By authorizing repair work at Motorcars LTD Customer agrees to the following terms and conditions.

1. Authorization for Work: You authorize Motorcars LTD to perform the repair work specified, including the installation of necessary parts and materials. You also authorize us to operate your vehicle for the purposes of testing, inspection, and delivery.

On complicated wiring and programming issues, we ask for 3 (three hours) initial diagnostic time to determine the scope of the needed work. If we do not use all three of those hours, we only charge for the time we actually used. If we reach three hours with no conclusion, we will contact the customer with a request for more time or end the work at the customer’s request.

Other Terms and Conditions on the work order and a classic car acknowledgment, both of which may be changed at any time, will become a part of these posted terms and conditions by inclusion.

2. Labor Rate

  • Our standard labor rate is $200.00 per hour. Diagnostic and repair time is billed at this rate.

3. Parts Policy

  • Parts Sourcing: For quality control, liability, and warranty purposes, all parts required for repairs will be supplied by Motorcars LTD. We do not install parts provided by customers or any other third-party source.
  • In-Shop Pricing: Prices for parts used in our repair facility may differ from prices listed online. The prices for parts sold online are for direct-to-consumer, uninstalled sales and do not apply to in-shop repairs. We will not price-match online listings.

4. Warranty Information

  • Shop Warranty (New and Re-Manufactured Parts): We provide a limited warranty of 12 months or 12,000 miles (whichever occurs first) on new and mechanical re-manufactured parts and the associated installation labor.
  • Shop Warranty (Used Mechanical Parts): For used mechanical parts, we provide a limited warranty of 90 days or 3,000 miles (whichever occurs first). This warranty covers defects in the part or workmanship and does not cover damage caused by misuse, abuse, modification, or subsequent collision.
  • Shop Warranty (Used Electrical and Computer Parts): Computers have been introduced
into these cars since 1975… some 50+ years. “
    Used electrical parts”
associated with these cars are also 50+ years old…. Presumably, they have just not failed as yet. We will be happy to provide labor
for “used” and “rebuilt” parts (as available) to effect the needed repairs for these computer laden cars. However, we will not warranty the suitability or the longevity of the used or rebuilt parts used to effectuate a repair.

“Used” or “Rebuilt” parts MAY have a vendor warranty which we will pursue, but we will not warranty “labor” charged to diagnose and re-install the “used” or “rebuilt” parts. Ie: Labor will be charged to diagnose and change-out defective electrical and computer components.

These choices are not taken lightly. It makes little sense for us to try to warranty a product where the product being acquired and sold is aging and deteriorating at the same rate as the parts on the cars we are trying to repair.

  • Our Warranty does not include towing services or transportation costs to the shop for warranty repairs. Warranty work is performed and honored at our shop premises at 8101 Hempstead, Houston, Texas, 77008.
  • Manufacturer’s (Factory) Warranty: Motorcars LTD is an independent repair facility and does not perform factory warranty repairs for Jaguar or Land Rover.
  • Extended Warranties / Service Contracts: We do not honor aftermarket extended warranty and service contracts. The vehicle owner is solely responsible for the full cost of repairs.

 5. Fuel and Fueling of Customer Vehicles

  • All cars for service should have at least 1/2 tank of gas when delivered for service to our shop in order for us to properly diagnose driveability problems..
  • If, during the repair or test driving of the car, additional gas is required, we will fuel the car and in addition to the marked up fuel cost, and we will also charge a $25.00 “trip charge” to get the gas.

 6. Vehicle Transportation

  • The customer is solely responsible for arranging and paying for the transportation of their vehicle to and from our facility. This includes any necessary towing services required to bring the vehicle to the shop for initial diagnosis or repair.

7. Vehicle Storage Policy

  • Full payment is due upon completion of repairs. We will notify you by phone, text, or email when your vehicle is ready for pickup.
  • A daily storage fee of $20.00 per day will be charged for any vehicle not picked up within 10 business days of notification of completion. Storage Fees begin on the 11th day.
  • In accordance with Texas state law, any vehicle left for more than 30 days after notification of completion may be considered abandoned. At that point, a mechanic’s lien may be filed, and the vehicle may be sold to cover repair and storage charges.

 8. Authorizations and Invoices for repairs will be sent to the customer for review and payment via the e-mail provided at the time of service.

9. Payment Terms Full payment is due upon completion of repairs and before the vehicle is released. We accept cash, major credit/debit cards, zelle, wire transfers and cashier’s checks. A mechanic’s lien may be placed on any vehicle for which payment is not
rendered in full.

10. Arbitration: By accepting these Terms or authorizing services, Customer acknowledges that Customer and Motorcars Ltd are each waiving the right to a jury trial and to resolve disputes in court (other than as limited below) and agree to resolve disputes by binding arbitration in Harris County, Texas.

The arbitration shall be conducted by a single neutral arbitrator with experience in commercial/automotive disputes, and the situs of the arbitration shall be Harris County, Texas.

Notwithstanding the foregoing, either party may apply to a court of competent jurisdiction in Harris County, Texas for provisional or injunctive relief necessary to protect rights pending the appointment of the arbitrator or the arbitration proceeding; such proceedings shall be limited to the interim relief sought and shall not be a waiver of the obligation to arbitrate. The parties agree that Harris County, Texas shall be the exclusive venue for any court action to compel arbitration, to confirm, vacate, or enforce an arbitration award, or to seek provisional relief.

11. Credit Card Convenience Fee. A 3% convenience fee will be added to the invoice total for payments made by credit card. The fee will appear as a separate line item on the invoice. The fee may be waived if payment is made by an accepted alternative method (e.g., cash, check, ACH, Zelle, or debit card) at the time of payment.

12. Mechanic’s Lien: Customer acknowledges and agrees that Motorcars LTD retains a mechanic’s lien on the vehicle and its parts for all labor, parts, storage, and other charges incurred in connection with the repair or servicing of the vehicle until such amounts are paid in full. Motorcars LTD may enforce its lien and lawful remedies under applicable Texas law for nonpayment.

13. Limitation of Liability / Loss or Damage: Motorcars LTD shall exercise reasonable care in handling Customer’s vehicle. Except to the extent caused by Motorcars LTD’s gross negligence or willful misconduct, Motorcars LTD is not liable for loss of or damage to the vehicle or to personal property left in the vehicle resulting from fire, theft, accident, weather, vandalism, or other causes beyond Motorcars LTD’s reasonable control. Customer should remove all valuables and personal items prior to delivery.

14. Things you should know about Classic Car Repair and how we view them:

Classic Car Repairs — Important Notices and Expectations

Customer acknowledges that vehicles described as “classic,” vintage, or otherwise aged vehicle present special risks and  challenges. By authorizing work on a classic vehicle, Customer accepts the following:

  • Unexpected conditions and consequential repairs. Hidden deterioration, previously made repairs, or age‑related failures may be discovered once work begins. Discovery of additional defects may require further parts and labor beyond the original estimate.
  • Variable timing. Repairs to classic vehicles frequently take longer than routine modern‑vehicle work due to parts sourcing, need for custom fabrication, delicate restoration work, or awaiting specialty components. Completion dates are estimates and may change.
  • Higher and variable cost. Parts for classic vehicles can be scarce, discontinued, or costly; specialized labor and fabrication increase repair expense. Estimates are based on known conditions and may be revised if new issues are found.
  • No guarantee of complete restoration to “like‑new” reliability. Because of prior damage, age, and unavailable or obsolete components, some repairs may restore functionality without returning the vehicle to modern reliability or perfection. Where full restoration is technically or economically impractical,
Motorcars LTD will propose alternatives and recommend next steps.
  • Notification and authorization. Motorcars LTD will endeavor to notify Customer promptly of any additional required work before proceeding whenever practicable.
  • Handling of fragile/unstable parts. Some components may break or be found unusable during servicing. Motorcars LTD will attempt repairs or appropriate replacements and will advise Customer of options and costs.

Motorcars LTD strives to perform high‑quality workmanship and to preserve restoration integrity. These disclosures are intended to set reasonable expectations for the special nature of classic‑car service. Please ask your service advisor any questions before work begins.
