 Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. This is THE shop to bring your British Classic for repairs. My 1973 TR6 was really out of sorts. Repairing it was well beyond my skills...clutch and transmission work, plus a bunch of other issues. I got it to Kent's place as soon as I could. He and his team quickly diagnosed the problem areas and gave several options for me to consider. The cost estimates were transparent and well communicated. He and his team made several recommendations to ensure a better running car. I highly recommend this shop to anyone who needs minor or major repairs on a British Classic.

My 1970 Jaguar XKE had been sitting sadly in my garage for years—beautiful lines, but the engine hadn't turned over in forever, fuel system gummed up, tires 33yrs old, and a long list of the usual classic Jag issues that make most mechanics politely back away. I brought it to Kent, Joe, and the team with low expectations, figuring at best they'd get it running "sort of" and I'd have to live with quirks. Instead, they brought my E-Type back to life like it just rolled off the line! The first time I turned the key and heard that legendary exhaust note fill the air—amazing. These folks aren't just mechanics—they're Jaguar enthusiasts. Fair pricing for the level of expertise, spotless communication, and the car looks and runs better than I ever hoped. If you have a classic (especially a finicky British icon like an XKE), do yourself a favor and bring it here. They don't just fix cars—they revive legends. My Jaguar is back on the road where it belongs, and I owe it all to this incredible team. Thank you for giving me back one of the greatest driving experiences on earth! Motorcars Ltd was founded in 1972 right in the middle of the British car hey-day…. people were actually driving these cars to work every day… and when we started, we quickly realized that the Jaguar XJS’s needed routine maintenance along with the other British classics we were servicing. It was a pretty crazy time – we performed full restorations on MGTC’s and XK120’s and maintained daily drivers of XJS’s – at one point, we had over 12 full restorations in progress!

A Closer Look At The Jaguar XJS Model

The V12 achieved its greatest glory in an exciting new sport coupe, the 1975 Jaguar XJ-S. Replacing the XKE, this modern tourer had air conditioning as standard equipment and a 150 mile per hour top speed. Jaguar XJ-S race cars would go on to win the Trans Am Championship in 1977 and 1978 and the Manufacturers Championship in 1978.

In 1980, Jaguar engineered high-efficiency cylinder heads for the V12 and in 1981 boasted the fastest production automobile with automatic transmission in the world in the form of the XJ-S HE, 155 miles per hour.

1991 saw the re-engineered XJS with a new 4.0 version of the AJ6 motor. A year later the 4.0 convertible was added to the Jaguar line up. A 6.0 V12 XJS was produced at the end of the XJS’s production run.

The new AJ6 all-aluminum, 24-valve engine was a great improvement over the XK engine.

Since our founding in 1972, Motorcars Ltd has maintained literally hundreds of the Jaguar XJS. Motorcars Ltd was in full operation in the hey-day of the XJS. We have literally “grown up” with these cars coming and going in our shops.
